Ils disent que la misère aime la compagnie. Né à l'origine sous la forme d'un one-man band, le groupe passe rapidement à quatre membres, Rote Mare joue un doom metal traditionnel et lourd avec quelques touches mélodiques et épiques. Influencé par le doom/rock 70's de Black Sabbath, combiné au doom et au métal 80's de Trouble & Celtic Frost jusqu'au récent Reverend Bizarre, Rote Mare condense tous ces élements dans leur propre style tout en restant traditionnel.
